FRUITFUL CITRUS TREES IN YOUR HOME

Citrus is a genus type of tree in the rue family of Rutaceae. Plants in this category produce citrus fruits such as limes, lemon, grapefruits, pomelos, and oranges. They have dark green foliage, which is attractive. Growing citrus trees will give your home a refreshing aroma and will decorate your home. Another added advantage is that there is a possibility of harvesting fruits. A variety of Citrus Tree is too large to be grown inside, so one should opt to use suitable citrus plants like tangerine, lime, Meyer lemons, Satsuma, calamondin orange, and Tahitian orange.

How to grow citrus at home

If you want fruit production for the citrus plants, they need to get direct sunlight for about five to six hours a day. Plant the citrus tree in a mixture of Organics such as peat moss and leaf mode, and one-third of sterile pot soil will work magic. Like any other plant, the citrus needs to be watered continuously, though at specific intervals. Make sure to allow the soil to dry off in between the watering intervals. They require fertilization, and if pollination doesn’t take place on itself, one is required to do it manually. This method can be done by shaking or flicking it gently to dispose of the pollen grains from flower to flower to stimulate fruiting. In the case of pests infestations, one can use insecticides or opt to consult a nursery or garden center for proper recommendations. For your citrus to blossom and bear you good fruits, you should avoid things like overwatering them or allowing them to be too dry. Poor drainage can also kill the citrus plant. Tending to your citrus plants may seem like a lot of work, but the result is substantial and worth it.
