GROWING YOUR OWN LEMONS...IS ACTUALLY PRETTY SWEET!!

Okay, okay! Everyone know that lemons don't taste sweet! But having your own lemon trees could be a much sweeter proposition than you realize! Here are the top three reasons why you should consider making lemon trees an addition to your garden.

Reason number one...They're EASY! Maybe you're concerned about the amount of space they need, or uncertain of how well your trees might survive (if you live in a colder region). Lemon trees need a minimum temperature of 45 degrees F (7 C). While this may not seem suited for more temperate climates, this problem can be solved. Lemon trees are small enough to easily plant in pots on your patio, terrace, indoors, or close enough to your house to maintain the proper temperature (Meyer lemon trees grow very well in non tropical zones). Secondly lemon trees become hardier as they mature. So buying a tree instead of planting seeds would be to your advantage. Also, mature trees will already be fruit bearing! Lemon trees are low maintenance, and only require minimal pruning.

The second reason is that they're great in your kitchen!! Of course, I don't mean growing them in there (though you're free to do what you like)! But,you don't have to be a master chef to realize the extensive culinary uses they have. You can make some fresh lemonade, a nice vinaigrette for salad, or take a wedge to squeeze over a salmon fillet or shrimp scampi for dinner. The possibilities are endless!

Third and finally, lemon trees are attractive to the eyes. The bright yellow lemons can add a great color splash to your home or garden. They have a pretty white blossom that flowers, and a pleasant, relaxing aroma too.

These three reasons make a lemon tree an excellent choice for anyone interested in adding a little slice of paradise to your backyard! Read more to get an ideas on how to plant Citrus Tree.
